"The Deep Place" Wins a Webby Award!

International Justice Mission’s “The Deep Place” video has been nominated for a Webby Award, called the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times.

This year’s Webby Awards received 13,000 entries from all 50 states and 70 countries Among the 2018 nominees are HBO, Apple, Vogue, Coca-Cola, and the most prestigious advertising agencies from across the world. The Webby Awards also recognizes excellence on the Internet for social issues, and this year, nominees addressed issues such as sexual harassment, equal pay, the opioid crisis, gun control, and slavery.“The Deep Place” tells the story of a young boy trapped in slavery on Lake Volta in Ghana forced to work grueling, treacherous days diving into the lake to untangle nets from the brush in the shallow lake. It was nominated for Best Video (Public Service+Activism), and as an honoree, “The Deep Place” is also eligible to win a Webby People’s Voice Award, voted on by the public.
